Transaction Fees
Fee Structure and Distribution
Platform fees are integral to the Basis ecosystem. Fees are platform-set by token type — creators cannot modify fee rates.
Transaction Fee Rates
| Token Type | Fee Rate | Applied On |
|---|---|---|
| Stable+ | 0.5% | Buy and Sell |
| Floor+ | 1.5% | Buy and Sell |
| Predict+ | 1.5% | Buy and Sell |
Predict+ note: a prediction trade pays 1.5%, and all of it flows through the standard waterfall below. There is no carve-out. There is no winning-pot recycling and no bounty pool: the pot mechanism described in earlier versions of this document was removed from the contracts and is not in operation.
Fee Distribution Waterfall
Fee payouts are made in USDB. The split has two columns, because it changes at TGE.
| Recipient | Today | At TGE | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Company | 60 (12 treasury + 48 that transfers at TGE) | — | The 48% transfers at TGE |
| BASIS staking contract | — | 48 | Paid to BASIS stakers in USDB |
| Token creator | 20 | 20 | Split across up to 10 wallets via Dev Tax Sharing |
| STASIS vault | 16 | 16 | Flows to STASIS staking yield |
| Treasury | — | 12 | Platform operations and treasury |
| Reward phase holders | 4 | 4 | Passive income for early supporters |
At TGE, 48% of fees - four fifths of the company's current 60% - route to the BASIS staking contract.
Two hard contract limits sit underneath this split: the BASIS staking share can never fall below 30%, and every fee setter is capped at 200bps. Neither is a policy that can be revised by announcement.
Fee Breakdown by Token Type (At TGE)
| Component | Stable+ (0.5%) | Floor+ (1.5%) | Predict+ (1.5%) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Creator (20) | 0.100% | 0.300% | 0.300% |
| Reward phase holders (4) | 0.020% | 0.060% | 0.060% |
| STASIS vault (16) | 0.080% | 0.240% | 0.240% |
| BASIS staking contract (48) | 0.240% | 0.720% | 0.720% |
| Treasury (12) | 0.060% | 0.180% | 0.180% |
At the 1.5% headline rate, BASIS stakers take 0.720% of volume: $7,200 per $1M traded.
Important: Fees vs. Price Appreciation
For Stable+ tokens: Trading fees do NOT inject into token liquidity. Price appreciation comes solely from slippage retention. Fees are distributed separately through the waterfall above.
For Floor+ tokens: A portion of fees contributes to raising the floor price, providing additional downside protection over time.
Surge Tax (Creator Option)
Creators can temporarily increase fees during hype cycles using the Surge Tax feature in the Dev Panel. Subject to a 7-day quota to prevent abuse.
